LED Retrofit: New market in automotive lighting
LED Retrofit is a product that can replace the light source of a car equipped with an existing halogen bulb to LED without additional work. As drivers’ interest in automotive lighting grows, the demand for LED Retrofit continues to increase, but there is an inconvenience that it must be used in off-road because international standards have not yet been registered.
DH Lighting completed the development of new LED Retrofit in 2021 and introduced the product to domestic and overseas markets. In particular, through the Korea Automobile Tuning & Manufacturing Organization (KATMO) certification, it is legally possible to replace halogen bulbs to LED Retrofits in Korea, and DH Lighting’s products showed a great response in the market.
Thanks to successful sales, DH Lighting launched a new LED Retrofit V2 the following year based on customer feedback. The biggest improvement is ‘LED chip change’ and ‘built-in converter’. DH Lighting used Lumileds LED chips to provide better quality of light to consumers. Also, the converter was changed from an external type to an internal type for ease of installation, and the overall size of the product was improved to a compact size.
In addition, heat dissipation was effectively improved through the heatsink and high-quality fan, and the product reliability was improved by lowering the power consumption compared to existing products.
DH Lighting is constantly improving its products through communication with consumers, and is not stopping preparation for future international standard registration.
