Daytime Running Light Position Lamp were not originally an essential element of headlights, but are recently legally required in several countries to prevent bad weather accidents during the day. It depends on the type of car, but it usually turns on forcibly when you start it, or automatically turns on when you release the parking brake or leave the gear selector in the D range.
